Power/Holiness/Evangelism: Rediscovering God's Purity, Power
I purchased this book as a second thought, and found out I got more than I bargained for. The level of expertise and experience with God impressed me initially, but it was the depth of each topic presented by each of the authors that shocked me. When dealing with God and spiritual subjects in books, there are so many approaches, and many that are really weird, but in this book the contributing authors do much to show by scriptures and experience the reality of the need for the church to be seeking God's power, holiness, and evangelistic outreach to the human race. This is not a book of testimonies alone, but scriptures and the reality of the topics listed in the title. Another book that assisted me in certain sections of this book was I Give You Authority by Charles Kraft. Though much different in subject, it assisted me in understanding some things that are occurring in the South American churches. I highly recommend this book for one's bookself, not only for reading, but as a text book for what is happening in Christianity today.

Unity and Passion for God
The chapters are written by individuals from various backgrounds who are sensing the Holy Spirit drawing them into a closer relationship with God. This purity of heart has been documented in past and present revivals around the world.

Practical Software Measurement: Objective Information for Decision Makers
Published in Hardcover by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (15 October, 2001)
Authors: John McGarry, David Card, Cheryl Jones, Beth Layman, Elizabeth Clark, Joseph Dean, and Fred Hall

The Standard for Software Measurement Programs
I would rate this book ****** if it were possible. If you are looking for material on how to start a "software metrics program", look no further. This is the ultimate reference on software measurement initiatives. The PSM method is compatible with the CMMI (Measurement & Analysis Process Area) and the foundation for the ISO/IEC 15939 standard. All of the authors are recognized authorities in software measurement and process improvement. Dr. Barry Boehm (COCOMO author) has written the foreword. The PSM process is sponsored by the DoD and the U.S. Army. The book itself is comprehensive, well-written, and easy to read. It provides ready-to-use templates such as "Measurement Construct Template", "Project Measurement Plan Outline", and "Data Verification Checklist". Chapter outline:

1 - Measurement: Key Concepts and Practices
2 - Measurement Information Model
3 - Plan Measurement
4 - Perform Measurement
5 - Analysis Techniques
6 - Evaluate Measurement
7 - Establish and Sustain Commitment
8 - Measure for Success
Appendix A - Measurement Construct Examples
Appendix B - Information System Case Study
Appendix C - Synergy Integrated Copier Case Study

Note: Appendix A provides 14 detailed, complete examples of measurement constructs ("metrics"). Appendixes B and C provide 2 comprehensive case studies (approximately 60 pages).

It would require at least a 2-day workshop to address all the information provided by this book (probably at 10 times its price). You can't afford to miss it if you are more than casually interested in software measurement. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Off-the-shelf processes for CMMM level 3 and above orgs
There is a wealth of material available from the PSM site, including the PSM Insight application and PSM Guidebook. However this book is not redundant because it is structured as a clearly written introduction to practical software measurement, that includes excellent guidance for implementing it into your organization. In addition, the 304 pages that comprise this book manages to convey the information contained in the existing PSM documentation, and does so much more succinctly.

I found the most valuable parts of this book to be the clearly described measurement model, and the way the authors distinguish between data that is useful to projects and organizational data collection and analysis. This material places PSM in context and is a sound starting point for an organizational SQA initiative.

The case studies reinforces the mechanics of PSM, and also contain advice and pointers for implementing enterprise-wide measurement. Although I've been following the PSM initiative almost since its inception and have read all of the copious materials available, I still gained much from this book. If you're establishing an SQA function or striving for CMM level 4 or above you'll find this book invaluable. The URLs provided will lead to even more material, including a free Windows-based software tool that fully supports the practical software measurement process.

The Practice of Mahamudra: The Teachings of His Holiness, the Drikung Kyabgon, Chetsang Rinpoche
Published in Paperback by Snow Lion Pubns (August, 1999)
Authors: Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, Khenpo Rinpochay Konchok Gyaltsen, Rinpoche Chetsang, H. H. Chetsang Rinpoche, and Robert Clark

Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Mahamudra Teachings
The first time I read this book I had the idea that this was a very simple book. Mostly basic teachings about Samatha (Zhine or Calm Abiding meditation) and Vipassana(Lhatong or Insight Meditation). I was under the impression that It was very much like the Theravada teachings but with a Tibetan Buddhist flavor, so I was a little disapointed. Then I spoke to my lama and decided to translate the book into spanish. After translating a few pages I started to understand that as it occurs with many tibetan buddhist texts the words have many meanings and different levels of depth. Now I can say that this is a book where you can find teachings and meanings for all kind and level of practicioners as well as a profound description of the Five-Fold Mahamudra practice as transmited in the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. The book contains quotations from accomplished masters of the kagyu lineage as well as instructions for practice. Fortunatelly, I does not deal with the preliminaries since there are many books and resources in the Internet which deal with the matter. HH Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche, Head of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, has granted permission to publish the spanish version of this book. Tashi Delek.

Very Clear and Concise
Another review decribed this book as being"...the clearest presentation of Mahamudra meditation practice available in English." I agree. I look for books on Tibetan Buddhism that are well written and concise. Very few are, but this book is one of the best. It was written by the spiritual leader of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. It does not; however, cover the preliminaries in detail. For that I can recommend Foundations of Tibetan Buddhism by Kalu Rinpoche (Kagyu) or Tantric Practice in Nyingma by Khetsun Sangpo (Nyingma).

the greatest
basically im speechless. it put me in such awe, that i felt the need to push you to buy this book...the 'reader from ft. lauderdale' was right on track.

way to go mark clark!

An Exhilarating ORIGINAL Work of Art!!!!
This is, by far, the MOST ORIGINAL book or poem (take your pick) that I have ever read!!!! When I first bought "The Prized Southern Ledge", I was skeptical, but also very intrigued by the plot. As it turns out, my fears were unfounded, as this is one of the best books I have ever read! What makes this book more amazing is that it is written as an "epic poem", or generally in four-line stanzas that usually rhyme!

The book is about a corrupt, futuristic society where crimes are dealt with by throwing the guilty over the courthouse ledge. The more severe the crime, the higher the floor from which the convicted are dropped. All this happens while blood-sucking lawyers feast while they watch the guilty fall to a near-certain death, which is analogous to ancient Rome's feeding of the lions.

Nicholas Pein, the main character, must struggle to fight the corrupt government and defend his honor at all costs. In the same manner as Braveheart and Gladiator, "The Prized Southern Ledge" conveys the same feelings of shock, sadness, rage, and hope.

I could try to compare "The Prized Southern Ledge" to another book, but that would not give it justice because there is simply no other book I've seen quite like it.

If you only buy one book this year, make sure it's "The Prized Southern Ledge"!!!!

Relationship Marketing for Competitive Advantage: Winning and Keeping Customers
Published in Paperback by Butterworth-Heinemann (June, 1998)
Authors: Adrian Payne, Martin Christopher, Helen Peck, and Moira Clark
Average review score:

Distillation of the Best Writings on Relationship Marketing
The 21 articles in Relationship Marketing for Competitive Advantage are wide-ranging, covering manufacturing and services, business and consumer database marketing, and retail. All in all, they represent some of the best writing on relationship marketing including seminal works by marketing experts from around the world such as Theodore Levitt, Leonard Berry, David Maister and Christian Grönroos.

The fundamental principle upon which relationship marketing is founded is that the greater the level of customer satisfaction with the relationship with the supplier-not just the product or service-then the greater the likelihood that the customer will stay with the supplier. Retaining customers is important, as there is strong evidence to suggest that customer retention is directly related to profitability. It appears that the longer the customer stays with a supplier, the higher the likelihood that they will place a greater amount of business with the supplier, even to the extent of single sourcing. Further, there is a likelihood that these retained customers will cost less to service and that they will be less likely to be motivated solely by price.

At the heart of relationship marketing is the integration, company-wide, of hitherto separate customer service and total quality initiatives with the mainstream of marketing strategy. Conventionally, customer service and quality have been managed separately from marketing. In the relationship marketing paradigm, they are intertwined and managed as one. The rationale behind this is that it is upon service and quality that relationships are built.

Edited by academics from the Cranfield School of Management, the articles in this book are supplemented with summaries and commentaries, highlighting a broad scope of issues such as customer retention, employee satisfaction, supplier relations and the management of service quality. These issues are brought together to provide an integrated approach to the development of a relationship marketing strategy. This book of linked readings has been designed to reinforce themes first developed in Relationship Marketing by Christopher, Payne and Ballantyne (Butterworth-Heinemann, Oxford, 1991) and provides a solid basis for the further development of relationship marketing as a discipline and as a practical orientation.

Dick Clark Looks back at "American Bandstand"
For many years. The fans of rock music and the tv rock and roll dance and music show that exemplified the music:"American bandstand"have wanted to know about it's creation and influence on the music scene. Finally Dick Clark tells all of his fans about the creation of TV's most famous dance and music series in his memiors:"Rock Roll & Remember!".Here Mr.Clark recalls how his parents took him to see a radio program being broadcast from NYC:"The Jimmy Durante/Gary Moore Show".Clark was so fancinated with the workings of radio. That he decided to make broadcasting his career. He started out in collage broadcasting. Before he went to work for a station in Utica,New York. But it wasn't long before he became aware of the growth of tv and he left radio for work at small tv stations in the northeast on a varety of shows. In l956.Clark joined WFIL radio in Philadelphia,Pa. and worked on the radio version of a popular dance and music tv show for teens:"American Bandstand!".The series .Which debuted on WFIL TV Ch.6 in Philly,Pa. 50 years ago was originally created to screen old jazz music films from the l930's and 40's.The station execs were not happy with the idea of someone simply hosting reruns of old jazz music films for 30 minutes to an hour.So it was decided to have some local jazz music groups perform on the show, have a studio audience of kids dance to the music.Have a host interview the kids and the guest performers rate the record that is being played on the show and plug the records.Contrare to public belief.Dick Clark was not the first host of "AB".The series first Mc was a local Philly DJ and record promoter named Bob Horn.Who Mc'd the show from l952 to l956.(reportedly with another DJ Lee Stewart).Horn was abruptly outsed from the show in l956 and Dick Clark took over the show for the next 30 years.Clark recalls the problems with trying to maintain a successful rapport with Horn's devouted fans and in trying to understand the music. He also talks about his dealing with the infamous Payola scandel that ruined many DJ's careers and sidelined Rock & Roll music for a time. But the music returned and Clark was able to prove that he didn't accept payola or any favors to play a record or get any performers on his show.Clark also recalls the staging and the successful performances of many of Rock music's most popular stars in "Dick Clark Caravan Of Stars"Rock concerts and his other endeavours in tv producing ,creation and hosting. He also gives some insight into his private life and his loving relationship with his wives and his three kids. For those persons.Who wanted an autobiography that doesnot border towards scathology and for those who want to know the history of Network TV's longest running and most famous Rock and Roll dance and music tv show? This is one book to have in your private library. Thanks For the music and the memories Dick and Hopefully..You'll be honoring "American Bandstand's 100th Anniversary"on January l8,20052! Rockin and a Rollin
I was very happy with the book Rock, Roll, and Remember by Dick Clark. This has many qualities that made this book as good as it was. I am not that big of a fan of autobiographies but I found that this was much better then most of the autobiographies that I have read earlier. This book gives and in depth look at how Dick Clark got his start. It also give some in depth information on his down falls, describing the ''Payola'' scandle and the Congressional inveestigation. The only problem that I had with this book was that the years jumper around to much. On Chapter nine you will be reading about the late fifties while on chapeter ten you will be reading about the earliy fifties. This did not bother me that much and I am very glad and impressed with this book and I personally recommend this book to anyone one of any age. Rock and Roll lives on.

Sacagawea's Son: The Life of Jean Baptiste Charbonneau
Published in Paperback by Mountain Press Publishing Company (June, 2003)
Author: Marion Tinling
Average review score:

Another chapter in the fascinating Lewis & Clark story.
This is a seemingly well-researched biography of one member of the famous expedition who didn't have any stories of his own to tell about it, since he was only 18 months old when his parents parted from Lewis and Clark. Certainly many have asked, "Whatever happened to "Pomp"? He seems to have been a loner; his parents allowed Captain Clark to become his mentor in St. Louis, where he was educated with other half-Indian boys. During his entire life he saw little of Sacagawea (who died when he was 8) or Toussaint Charbonneau, his father, who was a guide and trapper. In his travels, Jean Baptiste crossed paths with many of the famous explorers and shapers of the American West. I'm no longer a "young adult," but found the book very interesting.

A very factual and realistic story about overcoming adversit
A wonderful history lesson for young adults. This factual chronicle of the life of Sacajawea's son, Charbonneau, will dispel the myth that Clark (of Lewis & Clark) made good on his promise to his Indian guide, Sacajawea. He did provide an education and board and room, but little else. In spite of the prejudice this boy faced, he was able to succeed in life. The book is well-written, factual, and written without predjudice. I would recommend this for required reading in junior high school.

Sadie and the Snowman
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (June, 1987)
Authors: Allen Morgan and Brenda Clark
Average review score:

Good Book!
This book may be small, but it has a big meaning. It's about a girl named Sadie who made a snowman in her back yard. Unfortunately, some birds ate the "eyes", a squirrel ate the "nose", and a raccoon stole the "mouth", and the snowman melted down. So the next time it snowed, Sadie made the snowman all over again, but the same thing happened again. The animals stole all the ingredients, and the snowman melted away. This happens to her a few other times, but she never gave up. To find out how Sadie resolved her problem, read the book today!

This is a great book to read to children. It helps to show them that no matter how many times you may fail, or however many times something goes wrong, to keep on trying because things will work out in the end.

Nice illustrations!
This story has real nice illustrations. Here's what the book's about: Sadie is a girl who is trying to make a snowman. The first time she makes a snowman some animals eat what she used for the eyes, mouth, etc. and then he melts. Sadie gets depressed but the next time it snows, Sadie makes another snowman. Problems come up for each one she makes. Can Sadie find a way to solve her snowmen problems? Find out when you read this book.
